Web Developer Resource Index: XSL

Beyond the fairly simple and static capabilities of a presentation language like CSS are the XSL family of languages for manipulating XML documents.

XSLT is used for transforming XML documents into some other format, such as XHTML, and XSL-FO is designed for document formatting. An example of the latter is the Java-based Formatting Objects Processor (FOP), part if the Apache XML Project, used to create PDF and other document formats from XML sources.
