Web Developer Resource Index: Directories

Web Directories (sometimes portals) are typically large categorized lists of Web sites designed to help users find resources that relate to a particular topic. Like drx, which I have designed to be easy to use, fully indexed, searchable and allows you to save each category as an RSS feed. And while the list is growing daily, I can never hope to cover every resource. That was in fact part of the design of this application—that it only list the really outstanding examples in order to keep it a manageable size.

So in short, these are my competitors, although I do not think of it that way. My goal is to help the user find what they are looking for, and if they can't find it here then I’m happy to refer them to other directories that may have what they’re after.

The simple interface, an alphabetical index, is deceiving. This directory has an exhaustive set of resources in every conceivable category. And this is just the programming branch of the directory, visit the top-level view for countless more categories. [1409]
